Pitchfork animates a tale of a crack transaction gone horribly wrong as told by Danny Brown. This is funny as shit and well animated and like much of Pitchfork’s Rap related content, I enjoyed it. That said, why is it cool to laugh at Danny selling crack to his community, discharging a firearm and assaulting an addict but the image of Chief Keef firing a gun, legally, is all of a sudden unacceptable? At what point does shit get too real? Because I’ll tell ya, it’s pretty fucking real in most of the neighborhoods that birthed these rappers that we listen to everyday. It’s one thing when misery is being related to you through Rap lyrics, but when that shit pops up on your Twitter timeline, is that too close to home? At that point do you being to pass judgement on the rapper for living the shit that you were so entertained by when it was just a story being told through verse?
